Modulor, Plastic Number and the Perception of Architectural Space, 2022

This study is about a critical examination of the significance of proportion as a means of architectural design. Using the example of two approaches from architectural history to apply an absolute poportion system to architecture, it is discussed to what extent proportional relations become manifest and are perceptable in architectural space, at all: on the basis of Le Corbusier’s system of the ‘Modulor’ and Dom Hans van der Laan’s proportion system of the ‘Plastic number’.
